Hot Ingredient: Fruit Enzymes

What are fruit enzymes?

Fruit enzymes are natural forms of alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), a class of chemical compounds. In terms of skincare, they specifically break down keratin protein. Our favorite fruit enzymes come from pineapple and papaya. Yum!

What do they do to my skin?

Fruit enzymes gently resurface and naturally exfoliate the skin (scrubs and microdermabrasion can be too harsh)ridding it of dead cells and leaving the complexion softer, fresher, smoother, and brighter. Natural fruit enzymes are also more gentle than traditional chemically-produced AHAs, which tend to dry out the skin.

They can also:

  • Lighten dark spots
  • Fade fine wrinkles
  • Produce increased amounts of collagen

How can I incorporate them into my skincare routine?

Masks are a great way to incorporate fruit enzymes into your skincare routine because they sit on the skin for awhile, allowing the enzymes to really sink in. Our Brighten Mask and Blue Tansy Mask provide a near-instant youthful glow, revitalizing dull skin.
