INGREDIENT FEATURE : AHA + BHA
While many of us tend to think of exfoliation as scrubbing our faces until the cows come home, this actually does more damage to our skin than good. Enter the new class of exfoliants: AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) and BHA (beta hydroxy acid, also known as salicylic acid). Well, they’re not exactly new but over the last few years they’ve been taking the spotlight and we’ll tell you all about them.
First of all it’s important to know why we need exfoliation in our skincare regime. Our skin naturally exfoliates itself when old skin cells die and flake off and make way for new skin cells. However, over the years, due to many factors such as too much unprotected sun exposure, hormonal fluctuations, and aging, this process can slow down leaving us with oily, dry, and wrinkly skin as well as with clogged pores and blemishes galore.
They key to keeping skin smooth, soft, and radiant is through gentle exfoliation to help break down and remove the build up of old skin cells. The AHA’s and BHA’s in both our Brighten and Blue Tansy Masks do exactly all of the above and more!
